“Oysters die as you eat them.” I found this statement fascinatingly dark.
My pre-collection tells the story of a woman who is an oyster; of how connection with the earth and returning to the sea brings sanctuary from consumption.
Along with societal associations with oysters, I explored the colour, shape and form of the shells. I used natural dye, digital print and bonding fabrics to create a collection that provokes feelings of darkness, mystery and earthly connection.
