Circus Chequer is a project that centers around illustration and character, exuding the bright, playful and whimsy. Inspired by brands like Damson Madder and the trend ‘Clowncore’, these prints embody a soft and fun aesthetic.

The hand-drawn style enhances the whimsical nature of the designs, drawing from
traditional circus decoration for added charm.

As an illustrative project ‘Circus Chequer’ functions as a versatile collection for products and accessories. I worked in Blender to effectively showcase my prints on mugs.

Poppy Field Daze

‘Poppy Field Daze’ looks into the idea of beauty and peace sprouting from a harsh environment. I took forward Autumn/Winter 2023 trends such as tailoring, winter florals and sheer fabrics. I enjoyed juxtaposing flowing fabrics with the clean lines of shirting and pleats.

The hazy mood is amplified by the digital prints. All four feature gradients giving them an atmospheric, soft mood. I picture them being used on a large scale, boosting the impact by giving more room for the gradients. The designs show no signs of their ‘harsh environment’ other than their dazed and distorted appearance. The muted colour palette contributes to their jaded look.

This project was the first I developed with CLO 3D. Exploring design creation within the software enabled me to breathe life into my concepts through 3D models.
